The tapestry of life

Dear Friend,

Wow, what a week!! I learned this week that often people will hang rugs on the walls for decoration and warmth. It is not uncommon to see an entire tapestry of different styles and vibes around a home. I thought about this as I was walking one morning, and I saw this doorway of random designs that come together to create a door of welcome and friendship—a door to enter into the home of another.

This week has been the embodiment of this idea that many different things happen in our lives and yet they come together to color my life and bring warmth during periods of cold or winter. 

I had the absolute honor of sitting with a woman discussing the history of war and conflict in Spanish, and gaining a better understanding of the challenge of finding peace in a world of conflict. A conflict that is not about race, religion, or even culture. A conflict over a mindset. A mindset that is based within a few but that determines the future of the many. How does one find the central area in which to start to speak when all present are not within the same mindset, and only a few have a voice? 

This is the challenge that this amazing woman has as her job and yet she took the hour of her day to educate, and inspire and ultimately adding to the tapestry of my life.
